How to set up theme app extensions in RecurrinGO! Subscriptions
A great user experience is important to the success of our merchants. Therefore, the RecurrinGO! Subscriptions app uses theme app extensions to work perfectly with Online Store 2.0 themes.
Online Store 2.0 themes
If you have an Online Store 2.0 compatible theme like Dawn, follow the steps below to set up theme app extensions and configure the subscription widget to your liking.
1. Switch on the app in the theme
First, you need to switch on the app in the theme. You can do this in Shopify admin or straight in the app.
In the app
If you’re a new user, you’ll see the banner as in the screenshot below on the Subscription rule creation page. To activate app embeds, click the Go to theme button in the banner, make sure that the app is switched on, and click Save.
If everything is done correctly, you’ll see the ‘Your theme is ready’ notification in the app.
In Shopify admin
Alternatively, you can do this in Shopify admin:
Go to Sales channels > Online Stores > Themes
Click the Customize button near your theme name.
Click App embeds.
Click the RecurrinGO! Subscriptions toggle switch to activate it.
Click Save.
2. Add app blocks to the theme
In a theme editor, go to Sections by clicking the icon.
At the top of the page, select Products > Default product.
In the left-hand menu, click the + Add block button under Product information. In the list of apps, choose Subscription widget RecurrinGO! Subscriptions.
Make sure that the subscription widget app block appears on the left-hand menu.
You can add, remove, and reorder app blocks at the section level for easy customization. Click and drag the ⋮⋮ icon to move the block to another available location on the page.
To remove the Subscription widget block, click on it and click Remove block.
3. Configure the subscription widget
Click on the subscription widget to edit it. You can do the following actions with corresponding icons: Move to previous position, Move to next position, Duplicate, Hide, and Remove the block.
Click Save when you’re done.
Vintage themes
1. Switch on the app in the theme
First, you need to switch on the app in the theme.
If you’re a new user, you’ll see the banner as in the screenshot below on the Subscription rule creation page. To activate app embeds, click the Go to theme button in the banner, make sure that the app is switched on, and click Save.
In Shopify admin
Alternatively, you can do this in Shopify admin:
Go to Sales channels > Online Stores > Themes
Click the Customize button near your theme name.
Click App embeds.
Click the RecurrinGO! Subscriptions toggle switch to activate it.
Click Save.
You’ll see the ‘Your theme is ready’ notification on the rule page if everything is done correctly.
2. Configure the subscription widget
If you have a vintage theme, use selectors to configure the subscription widget placement to your liking.
In the app, go to Settings > General.
Click on the down arrow near Selectors.
Click the Change button near “Widget placement on a product page” to configure the subscription widget.
Select the required element while holding the
Shiftkey and where you want to place the subscription widget - above or below the selected element.Click Save.
