How to set up theme app extensions in Back in Stock Alert?

1. Switch on the app in the theme

First, you need to switch on the app in the theme. You can do this in Shopify admin

  • Go to Sales channels > Online Stores > Themes

  • Click the Customize button near your theme name.

  • Click App embeds.

  • Click the Back in Stock Alerts toggle switch to activate it.

  • Click Save.

2. Configure the subscription form (2.0 themes)

Choose a preferable subscription form style:

Pop-up form appears once the Notify button is clicked and doesn’t require any additional configuration. The design and text of the form can be changed in the app’s setting.

 

Inline form is added to the theme via app block. You can place it anywhere on the page.

In a theme editor, go to Sections by clicking the icon. 

At the top of the page, select Products > Default product.

In the left-hand menu, click the + Add block button under Product information. In the list of apps, choose Subscription Form Back in Stock Notifications. 

Make sure that the subscription widget app block appears on the left-hand menu. 

To remove the Subscription widget block, click on it and click Remove block.

 

3. Configure the Notify me button. (2.0 theme)


NOTE! Notify me button doesn’t appear if inline form is selected.

Float button is configured in the app. It has four positions available: 

No additional setup is required. 

Inline button is added to the theme via app block just the way the inline form is. 

4. Vintage themes

 

  1. Switch on the app in the theme

First, you need to switch on the app in the theme. You can do this in Shopify admin

  • Go to Sales channels > Online Stores > Themes

  • Click the Back in Stock Alerts toggle switch to activate it.

  • Click Save.

If you have a vintage theme, use selectors to configure the inline subscription form and inline button placement to your liking. 

Inline subscription form: 

  1. In the app, go to Settings -> Subscription.

  2. Subscription form -> Inline form

  3. Click the Select button to configure the subscription form.

  4. Select the required element while holding the Shift key and where you want to place the subscription form—above or below the selected element.

  1. Click Save.

Inline button: 

  1. In the app, go to Settings -> Subscription.

  2. Subscription form -> Inline button (NOTE! Button configuration is not available when inline form is selected.)

  3. Click the Select button to configure the subscription form.

  1. Select the required element while holding the Shift key and where you want to place the button—above or below the selected element.

  1. Click Save.
